March 2009 — "
I made a last minute appointment at the hair salon. I just moved to Victoria and had some good leads on several new hairdressers. But while walking in the Cook Street Village area, I happened upon this salon. It looked funky, inviting and unpretentious, so a few days later I booked an appointment with a stylist the receptionist recommended. When I arrived, however, they had made a mistake and I didn't have any appointment! The person at reception realized his error and was very apologetic. He said it had never happened before, and I believed him by how embaressed he was! I just took it in stride, and ended up with a junior stylist instead -- which was fine by me as it meant a cheaper haircut! So I ended up with Katie. I had brought a few pictures that had elements I liked, but they weren't exactly the cuts I wanted. Katie was excellent at understanding that and she described a haircut to me before beginning that sounded perfect, and took my face-shape and style into consideration. In the end, I got a perfect haircut. I left feeling so happy. That was a couple of weeks ago and the cut is holding up great. I will definitely be going back to Katie. She was also really friendly, but didn't talk my ear off either. Just a very pleasant person. I should also mention that the salon itself is professional and yet relaxed. I don't like pretentious salons, and this one isn't. And yet it is also very hip and fun."
